Faridabad district after being carved out from the erstwhile Gurgaon came on the map of Haryana on August 1979, as the 12th district of the state. On its North it is bounded by the capital of India, New Delhi. Gurgaon district lies to its west. On its east and south, the district shares boundaries with the state of Uttar Pradesh. The river Yamuna flows down the boundary of the district. |

The present day, Faridabad gained its face during the Industry oriented second five-year plan (1956-61). So rapid was the development that it out grew Faridabad beyond bounds and its Industrial Estates fell short and even the residential areas were invaded by small scale/Ancillary industries and job-oriented workshops. Many large and medium scale Industries also sprang up on either side of Delhi Mathura Highway, Even beyond Ballabhgarh. In this way, Faridabad Industrial complex carved out a sound and rich Industrial base. |

Faridabad Ballabhgarh Industrial Complex occupies a significantly important place on the Industrial map of India with its own individuality and personality. Faridabad is the 9th biggest industrial town in India. It has various types of Industries manufacturing products ranging from hypodermic syringes to huge mechanised loaders, tractors, and motorcycles, Air-conditioners, Tyres and Footwear etc. Significant enough are its products like crockery, special alloy steel casting, forgings, vacuum glass flasks, Refrigerators, LPG stoves etc. It is also noteworthy that during the last few years, about 70 units of textiles, dyeing and printing have come up in this Industrial Complex. As a result a large number of garments exporters are switching over to Faridabad from other parts of the country. |

Faridabad offers an excellent infrastructure base for setting up an Industry. Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation and Haryana Urban Development Authority and the Directorate of Industries acquire and develop land for Industrial use. These agencies have developed Industrial estates having more than 1500 plots spread all over the district. Haryana is rated to-day as the best state in India by the Centre while monitoring Indian Economy on the basis of survey conducted by it so for as infrastructure facilities are concerned. Apart from Government agencies the private entrepreneurs are at liberty to purchase land privately and convert its land use from the appropriate Government agency. |

Today Faridabad can boast of having maximum number of foreign collaborations than any other industrial area. The range of product being exported from this district is widening every day and foreign market for the same is expanding. This is due to the fact that product manufactured here are technically superior and incorporate the latest advanced technology. The products, which are exported from this district, are machinery, electric equipment, tractor, industrial units, helmets, tyres, footwear etc. A large number of industrial units have collaborations with foreign countries apart from wholly owned foreign companies. |
